The world’s first NB-IoT streetlight controller and the already proven inteliLIGHT® LoRaWAN™ compatible controller will be showcased and available for testing during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, between 27th February – 2nd March 2017.Brasov, ROMANIA, February 07, 2017
Flashnet will showcase in Barcelona between February 27th and March 2nd two of the LPWA communication technologies already integrated into inteliLIGHT® streetlight control solution. Flashnet has focused in the last year to prove inteliLIGHT’s functionality with different IoT communication technologies, encouraging cross-network implementation flexibility and aiming to become the first communication technology agnostic solution on the market.
Introduced in mid-2015 and already tested in more than a hundred projects worldwide, the inteliLIGHT® LoRaWAN™ compatible controller will be presented by Flashnet in the LoRa Alliance™ booth, Fira Gran Via, Hall 8.0 Booth #D3. The visitors will be able to test a fully-functional controller using the inteliLIGHT® StreetLight Control Software interface and to experience its full range of benefits. Besides generic connected lighting functionalities (remote ON/OFF and dimming control), with inteliLIGHT® street lighting operates autonomously, while in-depth grid awareness encourages optimization and real-time malfunction alerts improve maintenance efficiency.
LoRaWAN™ compatible networks are designed to connect low-cost, battery-operated sensors and actuators over long distances, in conditions that were previously too challenging or cost prohibitive to connect. With its unique penetration capability, a LoRaWAN gateway can connect thousands of devices in an area of up to 5 kilometers, making it extremely easy to deploy. It offers significant benefits in terms of bi-directionality, security and accurate localization, extending its benefits to connected street lighting solutions: low-cost hardware and operation, plug-and-play connectivity and unbelievably fast installation.
As a world premiere, the newly-announced NB-IoT compatible controller will also be available in Barcelona, Hall 3, Booth 3M31 – presented by Telekom. The controller was part of the selection process that began at hub:raum (Deutsche Telekom) Prototyping Kick-Off Meeting in Berlin in 2016, when Flashnet was then among the companies appointed to prove the functionality of an NB-IoT streetlight control solution. Later last year, the inteliLIGHT® prototype was presented at hub:raum’s Incubator in Krakow, where it proved its ability to efficiently use the new NB-IoT communications for connected street lighting applications, surpassing its competitors and being selected for showcase at MWC.
NB-IoT is a narrowband carrier-grade radio technology specially designed for the Internet of Things (IoT) and already adopted by Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Vodafone. It connects devices more simply and efficiently on already established mobile networks, and handles small amounts of infrequent 2way data, securely and reliably. Special focus of this standard is on very low power consumption, excellent penetration coverage and lower component costs, deployed in GSM and LTE regulated frequencies.
Both communication technologies are available as an upgrade for existing lighting installations or in compact form factor, ready to be embedded into luminaries on the manufacturing line. Since the beginning of 2016 all inteliLIGHT® controllers feature a 7-pin NEMA connector option.
